Plot Lines/Story-Character Arcs
StoryLines i did for an assignment, decided to tweak a little, and keep. These are IF I had to give these characters a story or character arc, its not written in stone nor referenced when I talk about the timeline or the characters themselves. Just a what if situation kind of deal, but its close enough to canon I might as well put the information out there.
Kuro and Cov Story
The herald
- after years of providing for Cov, Nic, his older brother, dies. wrong place at the wrong time
The hero: Cov
The mentor: Nic
The shadow: Kuro
- Kuro represents the animalistic rage/wrath and unhinged personality of what Cov could’ve been without Nic’s guidance and teachings, and what Cov will become if he truly goes through with killing his brother’s killer.
- Kuro grew up alongside Cov when they were younger and Cov would introduce them as his imaginary friend to simplify things. Nic would include him in on events and games and Cov would speak for them to keep conversation flowing. Kuro felt just as much heartache and pain as Cov when they learn of Nic’s death.
- Cov’s inner struggle is with allowing Kuro, technically also himself, to give in to their desires: justice for his hardworking brother and ending up no better than the people that accidentally killed him
The shapeshifter: Ace helping Cov
- Ace gets a job that requires he kill Kuro (betrayal) and shatters Kuro’s mask as a compromise to let Kuro keep his life (Kuro can reform a new mask but itll take a while to heal, wounded pride and mistaken as an assassin class)
- Kuro and Cov learn of Ace’s target (no ace, only mentioning it was a warrior class shadow creature and nothing else doesnt assuage their fears, specify its not Kuro next time)
- Cov finds Ace attractive in a puppy love sense and wants to be like him in multiple ways, so not only does he look up to Ace, he admires and genuinely enjoys his company
Threshold guardian
- leaving the camp Cov has grown up in, he goes out to find a ‘demon circle’ to contact his brother from Death’s Home, find who killed him, and seek revenge.
- beyond the home camp are the big bugs and flora, and flesheaters. there are scarce Gbots and adventurers that will save him from dragons and Lords.
- The threshold guardians are the knight gbots guarding the entrance. they hear his story and worry for him, and test him to see and give peace of mind if he can live long enough to accomplish his goal
Ace Story
herald
- Atom is in a depression [why? his last mission gave him a BAD flashback and his ptsd has been violent for the past few months] and Val is out on a business trip looking for better paying job opportunities to get Atom up and moving/active again)
- Ace wants to see Atom get better again and decides to head out after Atom seemed stable enough. (he leaves his pet [wolf bear? lizard form auto?] in charge to look after Atom while he’s away)
the hero: Ace
- relatability to audience: poor social skills
- will leave behind their home with Val and Atom and take up the assignment to take down a powerful magical beast for a pretty sum (money he’ll put toward Atom’s maintenance funds)
- Ace is used to using military grade weapons/gear and japanese weapons and techniques to finish his jobs, but he’s a fish out of water when it comes to magic and the fantastical creatures in the West
mentor for new world/experience: Kuro
- Out traveling with Cov looking for the demon ring by now, they cross paths and Kuro teaches Ace the ways of the land (cov tunes back in when learning about shadow people magic) + borderpatrol gives the basic rundown before letting him continue on
- Kuro will teach and show them both how to use magic and what not to do and what is possible and relatively safe for humans to do
- Kuro gifts Ace a belt with powders and mentions to not use magic as a crutch but an enhancer. for a human, adaptability is key, and science/alchemy might be his best bet. (grease vial + fire spell, etc)
- they part ways, cov in search of the demon ring and ace for the magical creature hes supposed to hunt
ally
- the construction bot friend? the creation to Skelepunk’s destruction
trickster, shapeshifter, shadow
- punk rock animated skeleton
- he’s a reflection of bloodlust, bloodshed, and chaos.
- He’s attractive to Ace because he’s the embodiment of what he’s grown up to and loves: killing and maiming.
- skelepunk is another mercenary so he’s not an ally nor enemy until circumstance calls for it (Debating on if I should have this guy be a red card Dead to sell home the “Path of Death” Ace will be enabling)
threshold guardian
- Kuro and Cov, and Ace cross paths again, and Ace requests to fight Kuro to see if he’s ready to face the magical creature in its natural habitat.
- If he’d be able to kill it.
- Ace wins and he’s declared winner by Kuro’s broken mask
- they split ways again
- ace truly did plan on killing Kuro, but as repayment for showing him how this side of the world works, and seeing Cov struggle in a similar way that Ace is, decides to spares them
Kuro and Cov learn of Ace’s target (no ace, only mentioning it was a warrior class shadow creature and nothing else doesnt assuage their fears, specify its not Kuro next time)
His actual target: A warrior class shadow creature that abuses her power to monopolize and become a little too powerful, but has the manpower and actual strength to back it up
- Ace’s journey is about finding humanity and beauty in oneself and the people and things around you, even when and if you grew up with and surrounded by violence, death, fear, robots, and despair
- Construction bot sees the beauty and has a natural love for humanity and all we have given for the betterment of our future generations and the unique and lovely ways we leave marks on the world. This bot over time teaches Ace to appreciate life and to experience life with child like wonder. enjoy and live life, all that. Positive outlets for negative emotions, the concept of forgiveness and empathy, all that
- Ace must battle with Skelepunk and essentially himself, to not fall back into old habits so easily, and learn to spare rather than kill. Battle the violence inside him and nurture the side that wants to nurture and create, not harm.
- it turns out the shadow creature he was sent to kill was corrupted by greed
- Ace nearly kills her, but decides to severely injure her and give her a second chance, sparing her life in the process, but to live with the agony and consequences of her actions
- taking her shattered mask, a good portion of her earnings and finding someone else to do what she was doing but reformed/in a better more beneficial way for all parties involved, he then heads home
